Tomorrow is my 21st birthday. I am excited about this for a number of reasons, but also a tiny bit sad. Though I realize this is a new chapter in my life, I feel like it’s all serious business from here on out. And I’ve never been anything but serious. Sometimes I wonder if I should have worried about an exam less, spent an extra hour in the sunshine…tried to not worry about school and tests and if I’ll ever be noticed. Sometimes, I really wish I would have sang in the talent show, or pushed myself to speak a little louder. Learned to play an instrument, maybe or write a really good poem. Paint a beautiful picture…
Tomorrow, I am going to have a good time. I’ll be with those I love and who love me, too. I’m going to hold up my glass to making it to where I am, to tomorrow and the next day and the next. I am going to love more. Take nothing for granted. I am going to do my best, and I am going to cherish and grab hold of new opportunities that come my way.
I guess there’s still time for the piano, or a poem. Yes, I still have time.
Afterall, I’m only 21 years old, right?
I have so much left I need to do…
